Is there potential for Multikine to treat other types of cancer? I have some money in AGEN and I know they're working on getting their drug approved for kidney cancer (although seems like a longshot right now) while it's being tested for brain cancer as well. Has Dendreon tested Provenge in any cancer other than prostate? I'm pretty excited about the potential of all these immunology drugs, but is it possible if Provenge is the first to market, they could use it for all types of cancer eventually? Just playing a little devil's advocate here
Cel Sci's Multikine will have numerous competitors, each facing their own challenges. MK is poised to enter P III, and already has a stable of partners. If the stuff gets into P III, and if the stuff is proven to work, Cel Scho won't be at this PPS ever again, regardless of any other competition, until something better comes along. When was the last time something better came along?
That said, I'd keep my eyes and ears open as Biotech is on the verge of an intensified resurgence. The next wave should come from Stem Cell research, and if you find stem cells that fight cancer (CSCs) watch for it.
"The underlying principle for Multikine®’s mode of action will likely make it applicable for treating many other solid tumors and not just head and neck cancer. Multikine® has already shown biological activity (in early clinical trials) in cervical dysplasia / neoplasia (pre-cancer and cancer of the cervix) and prostate cancer.
Other indications that will likely be pursued for Multikine® are breast cancer, skin cancer, cervical cancer, melanoma and enhancement of chemotherapy and radiation. The last indication is particularly important because it may lead to an ability to reduce the amounts of radiation and chemotherapy given to patients"
So, Provenge is going to hit the market next year some time? What will be stopping DNDN from using it on head/neck cancer in the future. Seems like the science behind immunology drugs is more or less the same. Though I'm not a doctor and couldn't verify one way or another
