There is likely a huge ethanol - gas price differential at the retail pump established by a crony capitalist tax break. The tax breaks are at various levels, manufacturing, wholesale and retail and vary from state to state. And in farming states - well, ethanol cronyism is at its extreme.
HI canucanoe1, The real danger here is that our failed press is not making Americans aware of not only how expensive this is but the very real economic time bomb it represents. The whole sale market price for ethanol before delivery is about 50% greater than gasoline on a gge or equivalent basis. But ethanol so corrosive it must be delivered by special and very expensive tanks via trains or trucks. There are a few special pipe lines bought of course with tax payer money but the gathering is trucks. Then there is food inflation in meat and dairy running well beyond 5% for years now even as real American incomes are declining. That is a cumulative cost of 5% a year on our trillion dollar food industry. Finally as you know the Obama use mandates do not adjust for a bad harvest so a price shock will eventually happen again. It was a food price shock for big American corn importers across the Middle East which set off the revolutions. What is scary about this is Americans are not aware of how badly this is damaging our economy or the terrible avoidable risks we are running for no purpose. It must change.
Thank you for much for your effort to inform our fellow Americans. It is very important and saly more important than they know.
