that the military planes were to be used to help search for the sniper using sophisticated infra red cameras and other equipment brought this to a head for me. It seems to me that FLIR equipment will be in demand for our own homeland security as well as overseas. Maybe coming to this late but am I missing something here? Does FLIR have many competitors? Bought a little today and we'll see what the announcement brings.
No-you are not missing anything. There are no guarantees in life but buying FLIR at this level is as close to an investment slam dunk as you will find. The company has good market penetration both commercial and military. The new managment team (3 years now) has done on exemplary job of restoring confidence and reducing costs. The markets are just irrational right now. Just remeber what Buffet says: 'Markets price in the short term based on emotion and greed but in the long term on value" The long term looks great for FLIR. Tommy
