And that hedging issue that "creamed" the original Ashanti was what weakened the stock sufficiently that AU gobbled them up. It was well before Don Ewigleben came to work for them. Mr. Ewigleben is an attorney, worked in the coal industry, then later with Amax Gold and Echo Bay Mines before going on to (what had become) Anglo Gold Ashanti's US ops, which originated with Independence Mining in Nevada, and today operates a 300K oz/year open pit gold mine adjacent to Cripple Creek and Victor, CO. It's on the west side of Pike's Peak, is Colorado's biggest gold producer, and one of the best-run gold mines you will ever find. Anyone who had anything to do with it has nothing to be ashamed of.
Thanks team, like I said this was only an alarm bell, based on my poor recollection. But of course that word Ashanti in connection with Ewigleben worried me and warranted some research. Thanks again, no further worries about the background of Don.
I only asked for help to clear that issue up for me. Thanks again.
