End of 2006 the production was about 500,000 per month. Then January-March 2007 production ultimately reached 1,000,000 per month. Now they release that they are reaching 1,800,000 per month. That is almost 4 time the production one year ago. That is amazing.
Does anyone know if they are continuing to increase the production rate? Since they basically sell out, the production goes about as straight to the bottomline as you can get.
Typically most chip products do a cost cutting version by moving to a foundry that can make more chips per wafer. I know for a fact XBOX did. Similar cost cutting versions can be expected for Wii also.
