So I bought a Wii to test it out...and honestly after a few hours, I was bored. I played/rented Wii Sports, Madden 08, Zelda, Mario Galaxy, WarioWare, Battalion Wars, and Rayman Rapids. The gameplay was just too simplistic and honestly it gets annoying waving around the controller after a while. Call of Duty 4, BioShock, Rock Band...now THOSE are fun games. I'm amazed at the Wii's success, but question how long it will be before the novelty wears off. Surely no serious gamer would buy a Wii (along with multiple games) as his main system. I actually returned mine to the store to the shock of the Target employees. Then again, I'm long NTDOY so I hope the piece of crap keeps sellin well.
I recently purchased a tickle me elmo. The thing was stupid, and boring after the first 2 minutes. How the hell do they sell millions of copies of this POS? I returned it immediately.
The above is an example of what happens when someone OUTSIDE the target demographic buys something. Nintendo has stated repeatedly they are not going after the hardcore gamers, but a different segment. Exactly how have you been surprised by that. Ever seen a 6 year old kid watch the same DVD about 400 times? Now watch the replayability with the Wii.
Wii's are targeted for FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT. Not 28 year old Halo 3 fanboys (although they still sell quite a few to that audience as well)
