Nintendo are set to rake in the cash when they launch their 'WiFi Connection Pay & Play', asking you to cough up an undisclosed amount of Wii points for certain games. Players can already pay to download games, and this same system is being extended to online gaming.
This will more likely drive people away, jmho. Mario and Friends, bah hum bug.
I think you don't know what you are talking about.
Nintendo pay & play strategy is not to charge people for online gaming, rather to make people pay for updates and addons aka microtransactions which both PSN and xbox live already have right now. Nintendo is just playing catch up. This will also help third party companies to support their own online infrastructure instead of gampespy/nintendos which is currently used by all WIFI games.
WiiWare will have flexible prices at developers discretion. Nintendo will only advise, not dictate prices.
