I keep hoping someone will post something explaining why there was no boost in the stock price today after last night was up so much on TSE. How can it be up almost 5% there and down a little here? I know it doesn't follow exactly but I thought it would be in the same vein.
The TSE is priced in yen, NTDOY is priced in dollars. When the dollar gets stronger, the TSE rallies, but the yen buy fewer dollars. When the yen gets stronger the TSE drops but the stronger yen buy more dollars. Hence the valuation of Nintendo is more stable in dollars than it is in yen.
