    MSFT buyout of Nintendo next?

I would just like to say thanks a LOT ellen, etc. for your doom and gloom posts after the earnings report. "Drifting down to the 50's". Right. But I only have myself to blame for buying into your panicky pessimism and know-it-all constant postings. I only dumped a few of my remaining shares but I cost my parents a ton telling them to bail that day. I like how active everyone is on this message board but you should know that when you blow all the hot air I see sometimes it can really sway people who are having a weak moments!!!! Take a break!!! Find another stage!!!

    • Anyone who has followed this stock would know that it can move up or down 5% in one day without any hint of a reason. My guess is that in 8 weeks it will have moved down 20%. Here is why: Nintendo does not wow the press, and Sony and Microsoft will keep strutting their very fine products up and down the street. Also Nintendo is not showing any inclination to exploit the numerious adaptions of the Wiimote. It would make a great HTPC remote control. Do they move into remote controls? No!!! The DS could have motion chips embedded and as the user turned it it could shift perspective. There is an awesome demo of this sort of thing on the web. Are they even looking at this sort of thing? Probably not, but who knows? Nintendo could really boost production and take a chance on its own products. They could have sold a billion dollars more worth of Wii consoles last year! They could have rushed the Wiifit product into WW production! But they won't do any of those things. Hence it is the usual boring wait until the next earning report, and the stock drops until then. Eventually they will be puttering around (again) and Sony will get its act together (again) and kill them (again). Have your parents buy USB, it has a good yield and won't give your folks whiplash. Also don't take advice you find on stock boards except to develop your own ideas. Check out 'Jubak's Picks' or something like that.

      • Board moron Ellen. . . .come on. In one post you claim a 20% drop with idiotic reasoning then the next post claim grandiose sales and booming earnings? Really?

" Also Nintendo is not showing any inclination to exploit the numerious adaptions of the Wiimote"

You're right. . . they will probably stick the Wiimote up their ass and crap it out again in 2 years. WiiFit and Mario Kart are lame uses of the system. Dumbass.

"Do they move into remote controls?" Do they need to? I thought they utimately made video games for casual users?

"The DS could have motion chips embedded and as the user turned it could shift perspective"

The DS is 4 years old and is still crushing its competition. The DS will be the next "platform" change / improvement. Why rush to release a new product when the current product is still selling strong?
A preview of new product simply stymies sales in anticipation of the new release.

"Nintendo could really boost production and take a chance on its own products"

The Wii was a stupid decision. I mean bucking the console trend was pretty dumb of them. . .you obviously have no clue about Nintendo management. They never have an never will be aggressive. Period. Hell they are still trading on the pink sheets, simply cross listing would increase the liquidity and bump the price 30%. History has led them to dislike the volitility of foreign indecision regarding long term investing.

"They could have rushed the Wiifit product into WW production!"

Obviously there is a reason they didn't.

"Hence it is the usual boring wait until the next earning report, and the stock drops until then"

If consistently crushing earnings estimates on a quarterly basis is boring then please show me a fundamentally exciting one?
Analyst are paid to figure out and estimate forward earnings. Any of them worth their salt know the new numbers are sandbagging by Nintendo. The easy part is, NTDOY is selling all of the hardware they are making. Pretty easy to figure out what quarterly sales are going to be. . .

Peaking sales of the DS would be my only (small) concern. Hardware and (mainly) software sales this quarter will be much higher than anticipated. . .as usual.

So, looking over the Mr. Obvious fundamentals of the company, are you going to claim the cost of plastic will hurt them, the exchange rate, lack of sales, lack of hardware. . .what is the reason for the 20% decline?
The only decline I see is a broad based market decline. 20% would be in the picture at this point however I wouldn't want to be in another tech stock if NTDOY's conservative stock holders drop 20%. . . the rest of the market would equivocally drop 16% more, per the beta, more than that based on growth and fundamentals.

While your general statement "Eventually they will be puttering around (again) and Sony will get its act together (again) and kill them (again" could be true without a time frame. You are grotesquely mistaken. . .as usual.

Come on Board moron Ellen. . .you can do better than that (or is that the best article you can find?).

    • Well frankly, why are you blaming people on a messageboard? That's like yelling at the TV.

    • " would just like to say thanks a LOT ellen, etc. for your doom and gloom posts after the earnings report. "Drifting down to the 50's"

Trusting Ellen for advice is akin to asking your garbage man what he thinks of a bull/call spread. Come on Mary. . .

While NTDOY may drift to the 50's it isn't going to be anytime soon.
