I've checked two Gamestops, one Target and one Wal-Mart. All are sold-out of the Wii Fit.
I even went to a ghetto K-Mart that I thought might be off the beaten path enough to have one. They are also sold out.
Just talked to someone who said he went to Best Buy early this morning and caught the last one being sold. He immediately checked two different Target locations, and they too were sold out.
I'm a little bit annoyed I wasn't able to get my hands on one, but considering NTDOY dominates my portfolio, I guess I can't be too sad.
When news of this hits media (which you know they'll cover), the stock will shoot up again. I don't think $80.00 in the next few days is unreasonable.
I preorered two from Best Buy and picked them up yesterday. They received 90 (not presold) and 25 they had presold.. .115 total. The manager said they sold out in around twenty minutes. They are selling for about a 40% premium on Ebay.
They did receive 6 Wii's as well and they were on the shelf close to 7 hours.
Mario Kart doesn't seem to be a problem. Some places are sold out, but it is available at most retailers.
Wii Fit appears to be a completely different animal though. Can't say I'm not a little annoyed. Frustrating to own 500 shares and not be able to get your hands on one of the company's main products.
Hype surrounds a lot of games, but has anyone ever seen one actually sell completely out? Think about. In the history of video games, sure, the consoles have been a problem to acquire here and there, but I've never seen a video game title be gobbled up so quickly.
Even more astounding, the game costs $90.00 and we're in a economic recession. Crazy.
I am very glad to hear that because I got up at 6:50am to go to Sam's Club and get one. I was wondering if that was overkill. I guess it wasn't. They had like 25 of them, and a bunch of Wii systems too. The employees said people had been calling asking if they had it in stock and they guessed it would sell out quickly. By the way I freaking love it!
The Target near me had 20 Wiifit when it opened and they sold out in minutes. They had a few Wii too, and some were left in stock at lunch time. The Wiifit was here from Amazon when I got home.
