One final nail in Nintendo's coffin...

It's clear that mobile phones/ipad will kill Nintendo eventually. The ONLY advantage Nintendo has is that its device(s) have a dedicated control pad. I don't care how good a game looks, it is a nightmare to control on a tablet or smartphone.

I am not sure how the manufacturers of these devices will fix this distinct problem but rest assured it is in the works. Once this problem is solved, there will be zero reason to own a Nintendo portable device because the only developer producing games for it will be Nintendo itself.

Final nail in the coffin will be soon.

Nintendo's has 2 choices....develop software for competing devices (which goes against everything they have stood by since 1985) or promote their own handheld with only Nintendo produced games.

Option 1 is the only viable solution. And it is coming.

Sad to see an old friend down like this. I still have my NES and SNES and probably play both more than my PS3. Nintendo had a great run and they still have a lot of top-notch IPs but they kind of abandoned their the fan base that grew up with them when they came out with the Wii and now the casual gamers are moving on as well.

The entire traditional gaming industry is on the decline. It will be interesting to see where it's at in five years. There will always be a "dedicated" gaming base for the traditional games but production costs are getting higher while that base is shrinking.

    • The fundamental message you are making that people will prefer jack of all trade devices over dedicated ones has been proven wrong in nearly every industry. Get off the bandwagon
