the bottom line with this concept is that it has been bleeding average unit volumes for the past 8-10 years. It was 2.3 million in sales per unit 8 years ago and is now close to 1.7 million. Panera and Chipotle have higher volumes on much less square footage and lower rents. Do the simple math on a 10% decrease for 2009 and it does not look pretty. This concept has lost enough talent since 1998 to run several companies. The current ops leader ran the atlanta market into the ground 8 years ago and is it a surprise to anyone that this company is tanking? By the way, carpets should be cleaned monthly and when you don't do this, they will need to replaced in 2 years instead of every 5 years. This short term thinking should scare even the kool aid drinkers!
