GE stopped being a like competitor with ABB years ago... The largest drag on their business..and the largest part OF their business is their Credit facility. ABB is completely unburdened by this long term drag.... GE lost its opportunity years ago by not breaking their conglomerate into different parts..The engineering, tech side will always be cutting edge. The GE Credit is a small step away from bailout. Does anyone out there thing GE is superior because of a dividend that could be cut any month????
The GE Credit is why I'll stay with ABB.However, I still think GE is a great company. Also,GE has their hands in many more things.GE may spin some of those off in time.If so the share holders would make out well. Look at the MO spin offs and how their share holders made out. No, my reguest for help here was not a joke. Thanks for your help and good luck to you.
ABB has HVDC technology which should be very important for the grid rebuild. Going underground is more secure and doesn't require environmental battles and expensive easements. www.clrlight.org/hvdc.htm
" GE’s involvement in HVDC transmission systems dates back to the 1960s original Pacific Intertie project between Los Angeles and northern Oregon. Since then, GE has been involved in the systems engineering associated with over 30 HVDC transmission systems worldwide."
