Geico blew by Allstate in auto premiums written in the 1st quarter with a 11.6% jump to become the 2nd largest auto insurer.

Growth for the growth sake
We'll see how the year shapes out but it's not growth for growth sake. In the 1st quarter geico earned about 35% more in pretax underwriting gain for standard auto (258 to 172) than Allstate.
