54MW total in 2 projects.
Also, ORA is testing its 200dma....should bounce again.
Just bought in here.
oooooohhhhh.....I was wrong on this one. Got stopped out this morning.
Will see how low she goes and jump back in when the stars tell me its ok...lol!!
Damn crystal ball chart readers....lol!!!
Good call outofdate....best of luck to you.
So lets talk a fundamentals.
Geothermal is a baseload energy source.
Geothermal is usually located from markets (excepting Iceland) that could most benefit from this baseload energy source.
I read that 300F is needed to efficiently extract this energy, I've also read that a new line of generaters (UTX ?) is able to lower this theshold to 200F.
Can the distance from market issue be diminished by improvements by HT (nitrogen) cooled transmission lines ?
Lets discuss these fundemental questions, then move on to pricing buy/sell points.
"Whoever doesn't add technical analysis to their investing is an idiot. Fundamentals help you find out which companies to buy, and the charts tell you when to buy and sell."
Those arent my words...LOL!!
It looks like your userID can be used to explain your investment strategy as well....LOL!!!
Also, thanks for keeping the thread alive...its very important for investors to know that 2 ORA projects have been fast-tracked by the DOE nad the BLM.
By gosh, it all started with, "Ormat has 2 of 3 Geothermal projects. Don't know how to value this in pps." Fasinating thread that developed.
"I use a combination of charts and fundamentals....period......and it works."
Ah, a message from GOD, or is that the Emerald Towers, I get confused sometimes, but I have a tendency to look behind the curtains, and often find the Emperor is wearing no clothes. Warning: No small children or pets should be in the immediate vicinity during this fact checking exercise.
Agreed with the poster above me...Whoever doesn't add technical analysis to their investing is an idiot. Fundamentals help you find out which companies to buy, and the charts tell you when to buy and sell. I bought 135 shares at $37.88 anticipating the same bounce as the topic starter but it obviously hasn't bounced yet. Financials are solid, P/E is 1/4th of their competitor CPN, RSI is most likely going to be below 30 today. If you were going long now would be the time to buy. If you are holding for a couple weeks now would also be the time or very close to it. Were all playing this game for the same thing - making money, so glta no matter what you guys decide to do. I'm holding and i'll average down if needed.
I will put this arguement into laymens terms.....we are experiencing a dip in price relative to other energy stocks!! Has worked for me the last three times! Buy here and sell at 44 -45 = 20% return (short term)! Energy is to stay and ORA is one of the viable components!
Again, for those that dont understand english, like the guy that responded to my post:
ORA has 2 projects worth 54MW that were JUST fast tracked by the BLM and the DOE.
As far as valuing, I look at a combo of fundys and technicals. Tachnically, on the 1 year chart, ORA is in an uptrend, with the 200dma above the 50dma, and the pps has bounced off the 200 a couple of times. It is now back at the 200dma and I am betting for a bounce.
Any other questions jacka$$??
Oh, you base your investing in astrology/charts, which have the same correlation, i.e. random.
Anybody out there without Mullets for brains, have a rational opinion regarding investing decisions in regard to ORA ?
Yes. If we're "tachnically" in an uptrend, why does the one-month chart look so bad, and why did it take such a hit today?
I'm still holding, but it might be time to cut my losses & wait for a better buy-in point.
