I think they were trying to avoid lawsuits on insider info since there was a leak. Secondly as Cramer and all argue that it is still a sell (the same person wrote short covering yesterday), why would the price jump over 2 $ over some conference that is 3 weeks away. Shorts can hold it down and try and cover. Or maybe they are prepping the ground to short again from the high's.
i had same thought, but only strategic reason would be a key decision or approval is expected between now and then, and about 30 days later in early Aug. he can follow with 2 Q report and pace the news cycle to try and rebuild some confidence in the company.
The short answer is: they won't. Jeff Hawthorne promised that they will combat over-expectation, hype, and excessive speculation with clarity and straightforwardness. He said that will announce milestones upon achieving them. Three weeks later is not the same thing. Three weeks is just the opposite - leaving the door open to gross speculation during the wait.
He also already noted that they ARE commercial production ready. Most people seem to have missed that comment. They have "confirmed production scale performance at the Kodak Rochester facility." The only limitation being that this is only for the batch manufacturing method, not for roll-to-roll. Walker mistakenly said that they are currently producing with the roll-to-roll method, which is not true.
"Our lab based single center batch plating process that we have used for proof-of-concept sample units and low volume customer orders has been robust and with relatively high yields."
They could very well be filling low volume orders right now. If that is true, I am sure the first units would go to Intel, and Walker may have misunderstood the state of their production readiness.
In three weeks, they may have made this roll-to-roll process work. If so, then that's what he will say. Otherwise, it is a damage control effort to manage expectations and clarify when they expect to be there.
Exactly but all of the numb-nuts here on this board and the market are acting like this is some new and sudden "news". It's nothing more than Jeff following through on his promise. IF there was some "real" news it would have been announced today. You don't release a PR to say there will be another PR regarding what you could have said in the first PR. This is nothing more than follow through by Jeff as promised.
IMO The milestone is commercial production ready. They have the process figured out in Lufkin. They will now transfer that knowledge to the Rochester facility. Once that is up an running, the milestone is met and they have to PR. Until then, they can continue to talk to people, work in the background, and improve the process. Remember, they are working under the orders of under promise over deliver.
July 1st is the following week after the milestone update. The update is just the beginning. UNXL can then start taking volume orders.
Spread out the good news so shorty cannot take advantage of lulls to scare investors who scare so easily.
