Wow this stock is getting hammered

Actually there was a research piece out this week by a small brokerage company that discovered Aetna, Cigna, and United Health have concluded XLIF is an experimantal procedure and will therefore not reimburse hospitals for it until there is more data. Most doctors typically use the same code as an A-LIF when they do XLIF so it would be tough for the insurance companies to find which procedures are which, but they could audit the hospitals and deny payment. The stock is down because investors are worried that doctors will stop doing XLIFs because there is the chance they won't get paid which would put an end to NUVA's growth and even make revenues go down.

    • FYI

"RBC notes that NUVA was down ~7% yesterday on several concerns including the impact of the medtech tax on NUVA and on renewed concerns regarding XLIF reimbursement, none of the concerns are new. NUVA's XLIF procedure differs from AxiaLif from a reimbursement standpoint. Unlike category I CPT codes (i.e. XLIF) which have a set value that physicians use to charge for a specific procedure, most payors view category III codes (i.e. AxiaLIF) as investigational/experimental and may not reimburse for them."

Why don't you share the link for the research piece.
