I lived in the Bay area for 33 years. When I retired, I moved to the midwest. Shortly thereafter, my daughter moved here with her kids and the 13 year old granddaughter freaked out. Seems all she knew about the area was that we have tornado's. Every time it even looked cloudy she would hide in closets, the bath room or any other shelter waiting for the tornado to come and tear the house apart. (Yes she saw the movie.) It has been a year and she is finally starting to get over it. As I said, I lived there for 33 years and personally never had any damage due to quakes, including the 89 which really rocked.
