I really like Cerner, a favorite of mine in the healthcare IT niche market. I found this article http://www.bullishbankers.com/the-midcap-it-mindset/ that suggest Cerner as a great way to prepare for the eventual rebound as we find a bottom in the markets. What is your position on Cerner?
Please don't base your investment thesis on an article published on the internet. While the site is called "bullish bankers," the article is written by a college kid that interned at a bank and thinks he knows something. Not that the kid is any more or less credible than Cramer, but I don't see how anyone can invest hard earned money based on that one paragraph. what does that tell you about its competitive positioning, backlog, cash flow, financial strength? CERN is not the market leader, so how does it compete with GE, Siemens, Allscripts, eClinical, Epic, McKesson, Eclipsys, and all of the other competitors out there?
I'm not saying CERN is a good or bad investment, but your process needs a lot of work if quoting an article written by someone who just finished a keg stand counts as "research". Even if the individual did spend his summer getting coffee for all of those brilliant bankers that bankrupted their firms.
I'm looking at it right now... seems IT healthcare would be more insulated from the downturn than the general economy, though if they get flat/declining revenues and earnings in '09, I think the PE is a bit high.
seems IT healthcare would be more insulated from the downturn than the general economy,,,,,,,,,,,,,might add people more likely to use websites to get free info before visiting the doctor,,,,,,,prolly better off investing in them since the drug co happily pay for all the advertising and free information.
trend towards taking care of yourself over having a co do it.
cern at 38.56 is at risk of discovering the teens on any given day the sheeple stop drinking the 'healthcare is sooooooo recession proof koolaide'
I like Cerner a lot, I think that the new regulatory environment in the coming years will benefit Cerner as well. Many hospitals have already mobilized to go digital so they are essentially willing to finish these projects.
