      That's a minimum.

      They've been contributing drivers for
      probably a decade, perhaps more.

    • I thought it would be.

    • > When did IBM raise those billboards ?

They've been advertising Linux for at least
      2 years now.

    • When did IBM raise those billboards ?

Yeah, the reason is that SCO has NOTHING to
      make ANYTHING enterprise ready.

Or are you claiming that IBM denies that
Linux is enterprise ready? Because that's
not what their billboards say out here in
Sillicon Valley. Take a drive on 101.

It's not what it says in the press releases
      either. Look a few up.

How you can be so ignorant and invest in
      this stock is beyond me.

    • << SCO's utterly FALSE CLAIM that Linux couldn't POSSIBLY be enterprise ready without SCO's help is EXTREMELY INSULTING to anybody that develops for Linux. >>

I think it should be EXTREMELY INSULTING to anybody that develops for Linux that IBM considered Linux couldn't POSSIBLY be enterprise ready without SCO's help.
      IBM doesn't claim it.
      And for good reason.

    • The $10 Mil SCO will receive this quarter for licenses is the most compelling fact in this mess.

Nobody pays up that kind of money if they think for one minute they could avoid paying.

IBM has to fight because the stakes are so high.

Boies wouldn't take a case he didn't think had a reasonable chance of winning.

      imo

I sincerely hope it does go to court. Boies
is a lawyer, he's paid to represent people,
regardless of the merrit of the case. SCO
obtained him because of his name in the
industry, not because of his track history.

I am just saying that SCO's claims counteract
the history and creation of Unix. Most of
Unix was created in universities which is
why we have BSD and all those GNU tools.

There was quite a bit of displeasure when
Linux came out because it stole BSD's thunder.
BSD has provided nearly all the tools that
Linux initial used, of course, BSD had a
fair amount of tools from the GNU project
      from MIT.

SCO's utterly FALSE CLAIM that Linux couldn't
POSSIBLY be enterprise ready without SCO's
help is EXTREMELY INSULTING to anybody that
develops for Linux. SCO compared Linux to
a bicycle and their OS to a luxury car. SCO's
products don't run the Internet, BSD and GPL
programs do, and they are the same sort of
      developers that make Linux.

I am very much looking forward to this going
to court. I am not the only one.

what I believe is that it was a good idea for sco to get a big name like Boies. I have followed some of his cases and liked his arguments, but he doesn't always win. It will be interesting if it goes to court.

      You don't?

I only invest in companies I believe in.
SCO is a company I never believed in. I
don't believe in Red Hat either. I sometimes
short, but rarely since there are too many
fools in the market to do it safely.

I would buy puts on SCO if they were only
      over $5/share.
