    New Novell Letter disclosed

    VIA FAX AND CERTIFIED MAIL
    RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED

    Mr. Darl McBride
    President and CEO
    The SCO Group
    [address]

    Re: Correspondence

    Dear Mr. McBride:

It catched my attention that you don't longer respond to my letters.
It is my opinion that the fact that I disclose or make available the content of our correspondence to every possible public forum isn't sufficient reason not to provide me with an answer. Whether you agree with my point of view or not, isn't important in this.

Also the "CONFIDENTIAL" notice on your june 11, 2003 letter didn't specify to who exactly it was confidential, thus I considered that it was OK to disclose its content.

You know, Dear Darl, that the disclosure of our correspondence serves a specific purpose in the best interest of Novell. By not longer answering my writing you deny Novell the possibility to defend its interests and hence inflict damages to our cause.

Therefore, Dear Darl, IF ( my favourite word ) you want to resolve certain delicate matters outside the courtroom, I hereby urge you to start again answering my letters so that we can dump it on public fora at our convenience.
Any other course of action will be considered unreasonable and immature.

And once again, the fact that I make available this same letter for everyone to see, is evidence that you have no case. Right ?

    Sincerely,

    Jack "Stand Up Comedian" Messman

    Cc: Mr. Ron Lauderdale
    V.P., Assistant General Counsel
    IBM
    Cc: Groklaw

P.S. Sorry Darl, it is actually Mr. Lauderdale who makes me do this.

You seem to imply that these publicly traded corporations are entitled to private and delicate conversations. what nonsense.

it just raises the question again. Why, if SCO has any kind of legal footing to stand on, do they go about there business shrouded in secrecy like they are working for the NSA?

BIFF, maybe you missed it, so I'll say it again. These are PUBLICLY TRADED COMPANIES. Why the blazes should any correspondences be in secret?

The only reason I can think of is that SCO is on vaporous ground, and wants to keep it secret from the public. Novel, on the other hand, is not afraid of, and invites, public scrutiny.

So I ask you, who would you trust? (Assuming you weren't some blatantly opinionated foolhardy elephant)

This letter was written by a senior customer service representative located in India. Could someone please teach this Indian some english. Darl appears to be outsourcing his trolls.

Careful, some people on this board seem to be all touchy feely sensitive about picking on the language skills of trolls (see any of my posts from early this morning). After all, as was pointed out to me, do you think you could make your point as well if you posted your message in Trollese? I was instructed that you are instead supposed to poke fun at his(assuming) manhood, lack of intellect (which apparently is totally separate from literacy), or his hair. But language is clearly "out of bounds".

    • Dear backinfullforce,

freedom of speech is of very high value for most people on this board. And we all appreciate a good joke. But nevertheless, this is a stock board. You should NEVER PUBLISH A FORGED LETTER without disclosing that it is not an original document, even if it is obvious satire. Someone might get it wrong and take it as stock advise. Keep this in mind:

NOTE: Do not assume you are anonymous when posting to Yahoo! Message Boards. Although your IP address is not displayed on your post, Yahoo! does record your yahoo_id and IP address to help combat abuse. Yahoo! may disclose such information to law enforcement(...)

      Sincerely,
