SCO/Caldera? Never heard of 'em. >:)

Save the planet RECYCLE old software.

    • UnixWare is Advanced Technology when compared to MS DOS and MS Windows XP. Until MSFT figures out way applications stop responding we can not consider MS Windows XP a real operating system.

    • Like they say, one mans trash is another mans treasure. SCO proved that by obtaining obtaining selling rights to 30 year old software.

    • I thought the whole idea behind area 51 was to get "Advanced Technology" :)

SCO would be located in the dumpster behind the chow hall.

    • Won't SCO sue the entity with
      a) Deep pockets
      b) Willingness to settle early
      c) No alignment with free software movement.

30 seconds after announcing an end-user suit, there'd be a stampede of defense-fund attorneys all trying to take the case on the user's behalf. SCO knows all they'll *REALLY* get from an end-user suit is about a half-hour of BAD PR about how Poor Little SCO-User is getting picked on and how All These Attorneys are flocking to the defense. So they get YA legal bill with **NO HOPE** of a favorable judgement. And they give RH more ammunition in the existing case. Lose-lose.

      SCO delenda est!!

Looking for an answer. Found it you have.

There is no soon. Sue or sue not.

      Less Yoda speak:

SCO has been threatening to sue since AUGUST.

They can't sue an end user. They will get their butts laughed out of court. Their threats are going to get shriller and shriller as their voices rise to tiny shrieks. It just ain't going to happen.

If they do something stupid like actually sue an end user it is game over.

      • It's "game over" whether they sue or not. Any suit they file will be either laughed out of court or put on hold while the other suits are resolved.

However, Darl is so out of touch with reality that he may do it anyway. My guess is that he'll sue somebody within the week. SCO's next quarterly non-earnings report is due out next week (March 3, I believe). Darl is going to need something to try to offset the news that SCO is not making money on software. A new lawsuit might just do the trick.

Last time he tried something like this it didn't work. But then, this is Darl's fantasy world.

      • They will sue an end user. But it will be a Linux user who was previously a user of OpenServer or UnixWare. And it will be over breeching that contract or other flummery to give it enough legs to not get tossed immediately.

But their PR will scream "we are suing a Linux user".
