Good point. I thought of that myself. But couldn't they buy Teesera instead and for the benefit of us all, drive the price of the stock up so we can sell our positions and get it over with?? I am kind of fed up keeping holding the stock that that never quite makes it to where it should be. The problem is that among other things Tessera give a large amount of stocks as bonuses to its emplyees and as soon as the shares go up, the insiders sell their stash and bring the bloody price down again. Check out the trends on insider selling for TSRA. Frustrating.
Contentious as the licensing business gets, it's still more peaceful than it would be if key technology was being licensed to everyone by a major industry player. Tessera's patents are more valuable to a peripheral player than they would be to a major one.
3D Isn't the big issue. There are several of those about. Connection density is the game for Tessera. Tessera can go to at least 30/square mm (I think to 100, but I don't know). I don't think there's a need for the higher ranges any time soon. If Intel has an independent technology that goes above 20 a square mm, and especially if it gets much higher, THAT would be serious.
