Latest buzz is he stays Speaker. Told Bush if he is pushed out, he resigns the Senate and Dem gov of Miss. appoints his replacement. Nice to know we will have at least one truthful person in the Senate. As much as I hate to admit it, God is smiling on the Repubs. If Thurmond was two months older and had his birthday party in Oct., it would be a different story today.
<< I think you know what I meant with the "abortion doctor killer" reference-->>
you said it.....not me.... that classic reflexive kneejerk reaction by liberals to brandish abortion as some sort of divine intervention to show how evil conservatives are.....
I am not interested in what other posters have to say re politics--just interested in your sage financial assessment--I think you know what I meant with the "abortion doctor killer" reference--nothing to do with choice pro or con---just the "over-the-top" non-stop diatribes on your anti-democratic party/clinton etal stance--which is actually just fine by me--it is just that you are soooo strident---the best to you though (in spite of your nutziness) with your financial portfolio.es
OK Zircon, here are references with names and dates.

The former director of the Saudi Intelligence Department says his government rejected an offer from Sudan to take Osama bin Laden into custody.
American businessman Monsour Ijaz has said that the Sudanese government offered to send bin Laden to the United States in 1996, but the Clinton administration rejected the offer and instead suggested he be sent to Saudi Arabia. After the Saudis turned down the offer, bin Laden was sent to Afghanistan where he eventually developed the plot to attack the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Saudi Prince Turki al-Faisal told reporters last week in Saudi Arabia that bin Laden was stripped of Saudi citizenship in 1994 for advocating the use of terrorism.
"In 1996, the Sudanese president offered to hand him over to Saudi Arabia provided that it agreed not to bring him to court," he said. "The Saudi government turned down the offer because we wanted to bring him to justice. At that time, and on instructions from the Saudi leadership, we shared the information we obtained on Osama bin Laden with the CIA."
Al Faisal said that "thousands" of al-Qaida members are now in more than 60 nations. Bin Laden chose the 15 Saudi nationals for the Sept. 11 attacks as part of an effort to subvert Saudi-U.S. relations, he said.
Al Faisal stepped down as Saudi intelligence chief in August 2001.
<< Tell me more about your brother shooting missiles at mountaintops. From all that I read I was aware only of the one cruise missile strike on the Bin Laden camps.>>
his ship fired 12 missiles alone . he knows of other ships that fired too .we fired missiles at multiple locations in Afghanistan . he and his skipper argued intensely with their senior commander over such an outrageous waste of the most expensive missiles we have on 'chance' we might hit him .......and we were still short cruise missiles when we attacked Afghanistan .
but then willy fought in Yugoslavia the same way ..... no bombers below 15,000 feet , no troops on the ground ........ 2000+ Belgrade civilians killed in the streets of a beautiful European city .......
how about you tell me what threat Serbia was to USA ? before you blurt it was humanitarian to save the poor Kosovars , do some homework .
Albright told us 100's of thousands had been murdered and many more would die if we did not attack ...... almost 3yrs later and thousands of forensic experts combing Kosovo , they have found 2000 bodies .....many of whom were determined to be Serbs instead of Albanians....many of both found dead from bombing attacks (hint: Yugoslavia had no air force)............. there are rumors they may attempt to get Clinton to go to the Hague to explain where all the victims he claimed are buried.........
<< Also I would appreciate your insight into why the Bushes let a planeload of Bin Ladens leave without an interview. >>
that is a good question . along with why is Bush against family law suits against Saudis over 9/11 ........ as well as why Bush moved to prevent the Justice Department access to Hillary and Bill's e-mails while in office that was overruled by a Fed judge today ......
i know the kneejerk reaction of liberals is that if one hates Clinton then one is a dyed in wool Bush supporter ....
not me chief ...... i think steel tariffs and other things Bush has done to be plain dumb ..
i view dozens of actions by Clinton in his 8yrs to be downright criminal and his contempt for law and smash mouth , redneck attitude the main reason why this country is so polarized today ........
<<how about fact Sudan offered up Bin Laden on a silver platter and clinton refused ...... well known fact >>
Could you give me any references to this in the main stream media. I've heard this before but only in right wing rants. I read the news carefully and have never come across it.
<<and what did they accomplish with it ?>>
The Bushies grounded it because it hadn't yet caught BinLaden? That makes no sense. It was flying a year before 911 and Bin Laden didn't know it was up there so he was walking around during the day. Easy to spot. Tall skinny guy.
Tell me more about your brother shooting missiles at mountaintops. From all that I read I was aware only of the one cruise missile strike on the Bin Laden camps.
Also I would appreciate your insight into why the Bushes let a planeload of Bin Ladens leave without an interview. Was it professional courtesy because Poppy and the Bin Ladens were partners in Carlyle? Of course the Bin Ladens disowned Osama, but he did manage to call his mom on Sept. 10 to tell her he would be out of touch for a while
<< What I will say is that both the Clinton White House and CIA became fully aware of the extensive threat posed by Bin Laden. >>
uhm ..... lets see ...... can we say STATING THE OBVIOUS ?
we knew of Bin Laden after 1993 WTC attack .
<< The FBI was still playing cops and robbers and spending their time investigating Clinton. >>
hmmmmmmm . and why would the FBI need to be investigating Clinton so much ?.....i know i know.....VAST RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY ........
how about fact Sudan offered up Bin Laden on a silver platter and clinton refused ...... well known fact ........ but same clinton would try and assasinate him with cruise missiles ??????
Agree with you. Ignore Bond daddy postings . He's more interested in politics and needling Entropy than Reits. I was happy to hear tha Nly will pay 68cts again and feels there is a possibility od doing better in future quarters. I was also happy to see TMA increased their div. to .605 from 58cts. They are very conservative and indicates they are confident that earnings will as good in the next quarter or better. Let's all keep this board clear of politics!
