No change to Fannie, Freddie policy: Treasury

Does show how little faith the investing community has in this administration to not meddle in the private sector. That such a rumor could be, not only not dismissed out of hand but actually move multiple stock prices sharply downward is not a ringing endorsement of the hand on the rudder. I would never have thought Jimmy Carter could be made to look competent, but in comparison he is starting to look a little better unfortunately...

    • Without getting into a political discourse on Obama Administration policies NLY has fared quite well since 1/20/2009. Perspective is in the eye of the "stock holder".

      • I seriuosly don't believe the Obama administration will chew off another controversial program at this point. One of the biggest problems is the "big government, over reaching, controlling and intruding theme in which the dems poll poorly. He would lose more support by forgiving delinquent debt than he would gain. And he would further energize the opposing side and crank up the vote. I am going to go out on a limb here and guess that those who would have debt forgiven by and large aren't the most active segment of the electrate.

Can you imagine if you are a hard working person who has kept current on you mortgage and your nieghbor gets thousands of dollars forgiven. You think people are angry at Wall Street and the banks, bring the bailout down to personal levels and see what happens. Even those in favor of such an act in the abstract will be very upset if their neighbor gets something they don't. People are people and it wouldn't seem very fair. This will not happen because it would not help the dems.

      • Tend to agree. I beleive that it is an historical fact that in general the market does better under democratic administrations than under republicans for what ever reason.
