If anyone would enlighten us that don'y know, I'd appreciate it..thanks, Johnny
By now we all know that interest rates will stay low, that all sources say economy is slowing down, oil and stock prices have been down for the last few days, and some say correction is only halfway through. Do we really believe that NLY stock price is immune from this downturn? For those who have held NLY for years, through market ups and downs, would you care to shed some light? txs.
Recent history shows that if they maintain earnings and thus the dividend, they will out perform the market on the way down. That is not to say the stock price is immune to some downward pressure.
On a daily basis it is not unusual for NLY to counter perform the market. My theory is that when sentiment on stock values turns pessimistic, then that dividend starts looking better. Might as well get some divis while tour portfolio declines.
I don't see any downturn.
Few irresponsible financial European countries should be kicked out of EU and they are now debating on how to do it. Europe is a mixture of socialist unions, more skillful on how to scam money from their governments then ours. Greece is their proud leader.
If the dollar goes up our companies will have a hard time to sell which will preserve the current situation.
Our economy is the same as last year and the year before ( no jobs, foreclosures ) and Feds will keep rates steady.
nly is in very good shape and will bring us the nice divy for the quarters to come....
"and Feds will keep rates steady"/////// If Fed banks could control rates Greece would not be paying 15% + on ten year notes. Markets set rates, Fed banks can manipulate short term rates as the US Fed has with QE but they are facing diminishing returns now. The question is whether the Fed determines that banks need QE 3, we will soon find out. We are still closing banks at a high rate even with the QE support
Tednitu...Thank you...I'm thinking of selling my AgNC shares and putting it all into NLY. Of the two, do you think that's wise or should I stay as is. Thank you for taking the time to answer my earlier question! Johnny
Thank you both very much! NYC, We'll be spending a couple of weeks with our daughter's family in Battery Park City for a couple of weeks! We love that area..walk over to the financial district and hit Whole foods on the way home! They had a bird's eye view for the Elton John concert!
Thank you all, again..very thoughtful, and I feel much better as a newbie..that's a good thing! Johnny
Agree with previous poster; as long as rates don't drop too much and cause prepays, NLY is a safe harbour.
