Can't help wondering after reading "30 dividend earners that hedge funds love", insider monkey, seeking alpha, 6/28. Are there public records we can see how many shares hedge funds are buying/selling nly shares from day to day?
Varia,If you know anything about how REITs trade, then it would be a fair assumption that Hedge Funds make a HUGE amount of money playing the ex-divvy dips and SOs.... both shorting and then buying back. It's a slick game if you've got the funds, meaning it's fairly predictable. So yeah, to answer your question: Yes.But not in the Pump and Dump way you asked it.Hope that helps.
I'm curious how they can play the ex dividend date by shorting. If you short a stock through the ex dividend date, you have to pay the dividend, so how do they make money?
