Yeah - I've been in NLY a while and it's been a great performer. Of course, I'd be ticked off had I bought later, but the dividend in great and the strategy is working and will continue for 2 more years, at least.
When Cramer came rolling in, I had to laugh. He's an idiot, but promoting a stock spitting out 15% a year when banks pay .15% can't possibly be deemed a bad call, even if it was after the fact. He needs a few of these so that his followers keep thinking he knows what he's doing.
Actually, I shouldn't call him an idiot. He showed up on the ETrade home screen too and made me seriously consider changing brokerages. He seems to show up as the expert in a lot of places that are trying to attract the unwashed masses. He may not know poop about stocks or investing, but he's certainly not an idiot.
Everyone bashes on Cramer, but he's not a dumb guy. Sure, alot of picks may lose money...but as long as you have diversified holdings...his picks usuallly have good yields and will do fine over the long term. He's always promoting stocks like bmy, gis, mo, mcd, jnj, cvx, etc.
I think too many people trade like a roulette table and put it all on one or two stocks...then cry when things don't work out.
The markets are emotional over the short term with world events playing out. No way he or anyone can know it all.
He is a Harvard educated lawyer, they may or may not make him an idiot. However the lawyer part makes him a real low life and he certainly doesn't help himself by acting like a trial lawyer on his TV show with his goofy antics.
