Having just experienced my first east coast earthquake, watching the projected path of Hurricane Irene, and hearing that a 6.7 richter temblor has just struck Lima, Peru, I am struck by the fact that the industry that benefits MOST from these events is the insurance brokerage sector. The continuation of catastrophe occurrences around the world will result in HIGHER re/insurance prices, which will translate into increased commission and fees for the major intermediaries of which MMC is probably the best positioned in the business. This is an industry that generates enormous free cash flow and consequently pays good dividends and requires minimal capital investment. MMC is also engaged in significant share repurchase, having recently authorized an additional $500 million of stock buy-backs. I like these shares to go to $40 by year-end 2012.
