KOL = Key Opinion Leader. This is a pharmaceutical marketing term used to identify the most influential physicians and researchers that if they win them over to endorsing their product many many doctors will follow. ONVO I am sure choose carefully whom they gave their liver sample to so that any result would be well respected by the medical and pharmaceutical community.
Agree. I ran clinical trials for many years with a F100 pharma company. You look for the most influential. Also, you don't go to these influential guys unless the risk of failure is very low. Remember, They ARE influential if they like the product and are equally influential (in the negative) if they don't. Pick 'em carefully and then bar the door, Katie. Go ONVO.
Sorry, got off on a tangent. KOL is an acronym. Zobella told you what it stands for, but it means that they are scientific experts in their field who are charged with independently evaluating another company's findings. Hope this helps, and welcome.
Sentiment: Strong Buy
Call me dubious but I doubt there truly exists an "independent" expert for all the reasons.
Perhaps the most encumbered candidate would be in the public sector..ie NIH.
Assuming a glowing report, there remains another unsettling matter.
While it isn't an "apples to apples" comparison, FB's acquisition of texting service for $19b, the most ever paid, prompts another question.
Big pharma has ENORMOUS cash available and undoubtedly can, is or has been financing what ONVO is up to.
If ONVO has that "game changing" IP and tech, why haven't one of the big boy pharmas come forward and offered, say $5b, no $20b for ONVO.
Surely producing 3D organs and all parts human has more value than a texting service.
Lastly, the nearly total lack of analyst coverage of ONVO, if given their potential, is, well, perplexing.
I continue to hold a core position and day/swing, but have not added.
ONVO's pattern of erasing gains has not convinced me an additional allocation here is warranted now.
Murphy has a lot to prove. Translating a positive KOL into sales of assay kits and the ROI is a real unknown.
Revenue ASAP is a real issue. Increased lease and staff burn cash at a faster rate.
Perhaps Pernell will convince C on Wed to initiate coverage.
Tangible news is essential here.
Good question, when yo have no customers and no paying partnerships you have to use little known acronyms to generate press releases. Now if these KOL's are so important who are they??? Is it a big secret?? The important jargon to know when it comes to this company is Form-4, and S-8.
