Interesting - Outback dumps Paul Lee's

Yes, the potential competition is gone -- but one could also read this as a belief on OSI's part that the growth prospects of the high-end Chinese dining concept are limited. Longbread, I basically agree with your prognostication on earnings. But one can never underestimate the effect of the investors who continually "discover" PFCB. "Gee, I had to wait an hour to get into the place -- earnings are out tomorrow and the stock's going up -- I better jump in." Oblivious to the fact that quarterly financials have already been released and look pretty weak. I'm in Hawaai, so the market was open for a couple of hours before I checked and found PFCB up $1.75. Doubled up my short position. Of course, as I said earlier, I have been about 95% wrong in my earnings predictions so far this quarter. Good luck.

    • What impact do you think warm weather and McCormicks report will have on PFCB's earnings tomorrow?

(very worried short, but thankfully protected with calls)

      • It didn't sell off at the end. Which tells you that something is up. The rvenues for he quarter are already in and would make an upside earnings surprise unlikely. The risk is that they could have experienced a pop in January same store sales and might raise guidance. Or maybe someone feels like squeezing the shorts -- although they probably squeezed quie a few out today. Sit tight. This is a discredited concept at the moment and it will take more than a warm January to turn it around.
