in a row (check out 5-day chart on AMLN)(for newbies: AMLN is partnered with LLY on the profits from BYETTA --50/50). I, myself received a prescription for BYETTA today from my G.P. (not a lot of G.P.'s are prescribing Byetta to date because endocrinologists are the only ones LLY and AMLN reps have visited to date for "detailing"/education on BYETTA). When the feedback from patients (see BYETTABLOG.COM)starts to spread throughout the medical community, AMLN will soar through the roof and just maybe will lift LLY's p.p.s. a little or maybe at least stop LLY's precipitous slide. Byetta's prescriptions (AND refills) are above expectations eventhough a lot of patients are on free samples and therefore not counted as a new prescription. Also the rollout of Byetta (and Symlin) were in the summmer (vacation) months, and included the 4th of July holiday. Bottom line: might want to hedge your bets by buying AMLN and if LLY buys AMLN, you'll be the recipient of that little pop is p.p.s. as well. 27 million short shares of AMLY still need to be covered. January calls are out of sight so the shorties are probably buying them up to hopefully cover some of their losses betting the wrong way on BYETTA and SYMLIN OF Amylin Pharmaceuticals (AMLN). Good luck no matter what you do.
Your statement "not a lot of G.P.'s are prescribing Byetta to date because endocrinologists are the only ones LLY and AMLN reps have visited to date for "detailing"/education on BYETTA" is factual incorrect.
Please refrain from speaking on topics you are ill informed on.
"Byetta's prescriptions (AND refills) are above expectations" - Also factually incorrect. Though the expectation is still high for Byetta, it is taking time to get the physicians to understand a very new concept in the mechanism of action for this drug. Initial flinch factor is followed by a definate WOW when the "lightbulb" goes on, but it will take time to get that understanding.
I am a lover of LLY, but honesty is a better way to go.
Prescriptions and refills of Byetta are above ANALYSTS' expectations. Tell me the name of one G.P. who has been officially visited in his/her office by an AMLN or LLY representative. You're just jealous you're on board the wrong end (LLY) of Byetta. LLY's stock is so pathetic it can't even be propped up by Byetta's success.
