Looks like a pretty nasty sell-off is coming

Today's trading reminds me of the days immediately preceding the release of results for MDVN and GNVC. This could get pretty nasty in a hurry, like the calm before the storm. I put in a buy order for 100,000 shares @ $0.03. Should I put in a lower price for my order? With the anticipated failure of the Phase 3 trial, and the fact that DelCath doesn't have any other product in the pipeline, this company might even go out of business. I would appreciate receiving your opinion on this...

    • Potential Delcath Systems (DCTH) Trade Has 45.89% Downside Protection

Feb 10, 2011 (Fresh Brewed Media via COMTEX) -- Delcath Systems (NASDAQ:DCTH) closed Wednesday's wandering trading session at $11.44. In the past year, the stock has hit a 52-week low of $4.74 and 52-week high of $16.45. Delcath Systems stock has been showing support around $10.86 and resistance in the $11.84 range. Technical indicators for the stock are Bullish. For a hedged play on this stock, look at the Jan '12 $7.50 covered call for a net debit in the $6.19 area. That is also the break-even stock price for this trade. This covered call has a duration of 345 days, provides 45.89% downside protection and an assigned return rate of 21.16% for an annualized return rate of 22.39% (for comparison purposes only). A lower-cost hedged play for this stock would use a longer term call option in place of the covered call stock purchase. To use this strategy look at going long the DCTH Jan '12 $5.00 call and selling the Jan '12 $7.50 call for a total debit of $1.55. The trade has a lifespan of 345 days and would provide 42.74% downside protection and an assigned return rate of 61.29% for an annualized return rate of 65% (for comparison purposes only). Delcath Systems does not pay dividends at this time.
