Selling to balance does make me wonder???? Why sell to balance, why not enjoy the gain and buy more if you think that it is still a great investment. I believe his other big holdings are AIR and AAPL. From an investor standpoint, AAPL has been a dog for the past 4 months. Why increase your relative position in AAPL at this point? Perhaps, it is something else all together....a new company that he his moving money into? In any case, the underlying reasons for his selling should be evaluated to get an idea of what will happen next for YHOO. He is on the board, he is privy to what is happening inside the board, and he is no longer actively adding shares but rather, is selling shares????????
FYI I remain long Yhoo and will buy more if it drops a bit more.
Look at it this way. He made roughly 30% in six months on the shares he sold. Good investors know you always take some profit off the table. Heck, if he was using some or all borrowed money, his return is even greater.
Why would he do that? What about upgrades? What about IPO? What about buybacks? What about price targets of $25, $30, $50? Everything I read here says higher higher higher/
What does Dan Loeb know? He's only a Yahoo director
He is selling because his investment company has more than 10% of it's funds in Yahoo . Meanwhile with this kind of investment , his investors have received -0- as a return on their investment . He is selling now in order to show gains for his investors this year . He can offer any rationale for his selling , but my opinion is that he received pressure from his investors to show some kind of a gain from thei 10% + investment in Yahoo .
