    TALENT RETENTION

Yeah, so, this is actually a pretty bad sign if you have ever worked in any digital/startup environment. It will cost much more to replace the ones who leave and the ones who still will be 50% less productive. Possibly will seem positive in the short-term bottom line but mid-term this is bad, and long term even worse. Possible good short flip if you are paying attention, but imho this is now an even bigger BIG SHORT.

    • I dont see any issue with this...No way the WFH crowd gets as much done as the people in the office. I'm sure they've noticed something. Its about collaboration, not single work.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • I know a handful of people there and other web shops. Talk to anyone, and you will know that WFH is an important benefit AND STANDARD among internet companies...workers avoid traffic, can perform more and better from further away, and grade A talent can even work in other states. Yahoo will lose these people in favor of clamping down on the workforce for, I don't know, rather stupid antiquated reasons. The weak will stay, the strong will leave...i.e., mgmt simply misses the point: talent goes wherever it wants, and to whatever seems attractive.

So ask yourself: If you're senior level and can get the same gig elsewhere, why would you stay at Yahoo which is already the laughingstock of digital?

OR, if you are fresh out of college and hold the most coveted skill set in the most competitive markets for talent in the country, do you choose a place like Yahoo or do you go somewhere like Google or a take a chance on a startup that "gets it". It's pretty clear, and obviously Yahoo does not get it. Yahoo thinks it matters if workers have their #$%$ in a deskchair....and ignores that fact that net communication is more important than face-to-face among these TYPES of workers. SO CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED:

If you're a long-term investor, you'd better start looking for way out. If you are an employee shell-shocked by this news, sell your shares and open up a cafe, because life just got stupid. You basically work inside an insurance office, the internet dream is now dead to you....

      Sentiment: Sell
