The dropping of Yahoo core is accelerating. The only thing holding Yahoo now is Alibaba and Yahoo Japan.
Mobile won't bring much revenue in a few years plus Yahoo has no core on mobile.
After Alibaba IPO there will not be much left for Yahoo.
MSFT is killing Yahoo with its search deal.
I don't believe the display ad will grow in the second half of 2013.
That's just the way the management is trying to gain more time for turn around.
Institutions are trying to keep the stock price stable for a few days but soon the dropping will come.
Yahoo is definitely not late. Did you see the Flickr app launch a few months ago? Great reviews. The weather app they launched the other day probably got more amazing reviews than any Yahoo product they've come out with in the past 5 years! And that was just a weather app! Think about what they are going to do to their core apps like Fantasy Sports ad Finance where add dollars will pour in if the designs are anything as cool as the weather app.
Yahoo isn't late....they're just early for tomorrow!!
You need to hold your horses for a sec! Mobile isn't going to be some ginormous cash cow its simply EVOLUTION trying to keep up. Ad dollars from PC's will go down, mobile will go up, net impact NOTHING. Newspapers are going through this and Facebook has been facing this for the past year with 70% of their users accessing FB on smartphones. FB didn't hit some monster revenue stream they've just reformatted the ads to fit mobile devices moving money from one pocket to the other. They're much less efficient with a lower click-thru rate, last I read. Considering Bartzy dismantled the mobile team, a few years ago, they've come a LONG way but as for it dramatically improving the bottom line I don't think so. You'll see them continue to get in bed with the smartphone/tablet/Google Glass makers as they need the latest and greatest platforms to be successful.
YHOO late to mobile...maybe, but their new apps are the best. Especially yahoo with summly. It's a new paradigm with respect to ease of use and speed. You can "surf" all day --- very addictive. They are rolling out the hits to keep momentum. The 50% increase in 3mos (200-300mm) will continue IMHO. They are still learning how to price mobile but Marissa says that mobile ads are as effective as PC, but not priced equally yet. And on Search, higher revenues last quarter. On Display, she said they are working on frequency vs price and expect to have revenues growing 2nd 1/2 of 2013. Everything she has said so far has been spot on. I'll take her crystal ball over yinvestor... or anybody else's.
