Any comments on the Flickr Redesign?

I am not happy with it and I see my fellow users of Flickr don't like the redesign.
    Any comments?

    • I believe Yahoo execs are making money off of destroying flickr and yahoo.

If you uploaded thousands of pictures and made hundreds of flickr friends; you are left stranded by the tsunami that just hit a day or so ago. Maybe you can start over at ipernity. Ipernity is a lot like flickr used to be.

If you are a flickr or yahoo employee your future is in doubt. About 10 years ago Yahoo made changes to it's news service, making the pages extremely painfully slow to view. In the years since Yahoo changed, Google and iPhone and many others grew as Yahoo rotted away. Now a few execs and their friends are making money off of destorying Flickr, destroying what's left of Yahoo and probably to destroy Tumbler as well.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • I really like it, no idea what some of you are seeing. What out there is better?
The pictures are very well protected from downloading. I can't even right click on my own and pull them down???
Uncompressed is a huge benefit . I shoot in RAW and my pics look so much better My HDR pics now really look like HDR. My videos on Youtube and Picassa are simply pathetic, they are so compressed, on Flickr the quality is so much better.
I also have Picassa and have some of the same sets and the shots on Flickr are so much better it is hardly a comparison.
I for one am very happy with the change.

    • There are pages and pages of detailed negative comments in the flickr help forum. http://www.flickr.com/help/forum/en-us/72157633547442506/page130/ and rolling on to page #130 still no response from anybody at flickr.

      Sentiment: Sell

    • Seriously, what a bunch of whiners who are probably devastated shorts who don't even have a Flickr account. You guys are a sad bunch and this board is becoming a breeding ground for morons. Every single short has been dead wrong for months and will continue to be wrong for years. Pathetic.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • It's a disaster. The site is now unusable - seriously, this isn't a just redesign that people winge about but get used to, it really is unusable for anyone seriously wanting to display images - and the business model doesn't stack up. Yes they will pick up a few social networkers out for the free storage, but not many, facebook already got the social networking picture sharing marketand and I don't see the ad revenue making up for all the subscribers they are going to lose. Basically they threw away the USP of Flickr. Mayer is possibly the worst CEO I have ever seen and that's saying something.

      Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • I think they misread their current constituency. Maybe they're going for a whole new demographic, therefore. The site redesign is more for photo sharers than photographers. Most Flickr users liked to appreciate singular photos for their singularity, whatever the subject. The new site is described as "photocentric" but what they overlooked is that most Flickr users really appreciate easy access to context (sets, comments, maps, groups, etc.). Now, it's more a (much slower!) flood of images. To me, this redesign shows that Flickr developers are just concerned with AWESOMENESS, not functionality. There have been over 12,000 comments on the Flickr blog so far, most of them vehemently negative. Some members will defect to other services, but most will just adapt. So in the end, I doubt that push-back from that community will have much effect, fiscally.

    • I am not a fan of Yahoo in general historically, but I will say that Flickr is really awesome now. The uncompressed upload with 1TB of free storage is unreal. Have seen similar comments in various circles as well. Yahoo is puttig out some incredibly compelling apps and is tying everything together is a very nice package. Not sure what all of these shorts are looking at but clearly they don't know #$%$ about much

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • my pro account payment is due in july i'll most likely delete the account

    • absolutely terrible. Flickr is hemorrhaging users, and I'm not sure who they expect to show up to replace them. Unless they undo their changes and offer an apology, the site will go down fast.

    • Major disaster - Anyone can now right click on any of your photos and "Save Image As" or "Copy Image" and paste to Word, Excel or whatever.
