b.coogan. I am with you. I think earnings may surprise the market. Yahoo was top site in both July and August as you all know and that is excluding tumblr. Yahoo has the traffic so the question is can Yahoo monetize on that trarffic. Tumblr has started to advertise in baby steps at the moment so nothing meaningful there yet. However, I have seen a lot of traction in all other properties Yahoo owns with plenty of new ads(see below). All the new ads are accretive when compared yoy so I think Q3 is looking good. We may also hear some continue success from AG numbers during the video call that could propel us further. Either way, $40 is a real possibility. Good luck to all longs..... It's been an incredible ride so far and let's hope we are only in the early innings.
Here is some of my analysis of the top products and ads(if any) spotted in the wild. Please update if you have seen otherwise. Thanks longs....
Web Phone Tablet
Yahoo Mail Yes Yes(light) No
Yahoo! Yes Yes No App!
Yahoo Weather Yes No No App!
Yahoo Sports Yes Yes Yes
Yahoo Screen No No No
Flickr Yes(just started) No No App!
Tumblr Yes(light) Yes(light) Yes(light)
If you review this list, clearly there are still plenty of opportunities to capture more traffic particularly in the tablet space. At the same time, there is also more money to be made in the phone market as well. Let's see what happens over the course of the next few months.
