Long.."support lean workflows" means less labor, less manual methods and more automation.
Compare the labor costs involved for a laboratory to perform say 64 samples....using an automated instrument that runs all 64 samples at the same time and detects and identifies the suspect organism...versus a manual method using culture plates/filters and manually detecting and identifying the suspect organism via microscopy on 64 seperate plates.
Keep in mind that NNLX dishes can work in conjuction with PCR's (which large lab already have)so labor involved with microscope identification would be moot. Why have two $100k machines that would get you to the same point in about the same time when you already have one. I am not saying we are better olny that we are more appealing to a wider range of end users. JMHO
