CAP is Carrierless Amplitude and Phase while DMT is Discrete MultiTone. Back in the dark ages there was a fight to see which would become the standard for ADSL (asymmetric digital subscriber line) technology. CAP lost, DMT won. The reason tbpatter raised this issue, I believe, is that GSPN was the leader in CAP. When they lost the standards war, it put GSPN at a disadvantage. However, that was ages ago in Internet time. A few years ago, Armando Geday joined GSPN as president. And if you watch anything, watch him (as much as you can because he keeps a pretty low profile). However, as in most companies, the secret of success is in the right people, rather than the right technology. I don't know exactly what GSPN is doing in technology, but I'm sure that it's not flogging CAP any longer. GSPN has good technical people and Armando will "drive" them in the right direction. Disclaimer: not a GSPN employee past or present.
