Obviously, a very good quarter. I had phoned company and asked them to provide some operating profit numbers for Golden Coral prior to their SEC report: to date profit for that segment has been dismal, even excluding opening costs. No segment numbers in press release: maybe CC will be enlightening, but I notice the same tired refrain about Golden Coral in the press release.

    • Looks like a blow-out number, both in terms of revenue and earnings. This stock was hot about a year ago, and seems to have lost steam after the last quarter, which was weak. Management said it was somewhat of an anomaly, owing to adverse weather, as I remember. Nonetheless, the stock has not participared in the strong rally this year. Perhaps this report gets the stock going.

      • I love this company, BUT two cautionary notes:

        1. Tax credits probably saved them about 325K this quarter - that is about 6 cents a share.

        2. Going forward, the firm stated that food costs as a percentage of sales are likely to rise.

On the other hand, tax cuts and travel by care help these guys out.

My guess is they earn about $2 per share in the upcoming year.

      • I had thought stock would rise about a dollar or so, maybe. Good to hear Golden Coral SS sales up 6.5%, but no profit numbers, and no real plan about how to deal with higher food costs: apparently, they are afraid to raise prices for GC. Next conference I will have to phone in.
