Franchise Ad in Barron's this week for GC

I don't know if this link will work unless you subscribe to Barron's, but FRS had an ad in there trying to sell franchises for Golden Corrals this week. Thought you might find it interesting. The text starts out:
    It's not a test kitchen, It's a 10,000 square foot cash register.

I sold my shares last fall for about $25, but still check in sometimes to see what I missed.

    • A little more research shows that this ad directs you to what looks like a franchise company's site:

      http://goldencorralfranchise.com/

Does anyone know how or whether this is related to FRS? Thanks.

      • I've seen that ad in nation's restaurant news. Frisch's is the 2nd largest franchisee of the golden corral concept. Frisch's is expanding to northern indiana, michigan, pennsylvania, etc. Golden corral the company is trying to perhaps tap a different prototype investor by going to barron's. Frsich's doesn't have a direct interest in this process. Most franchisees are private investors and own 1-10 stores typically. Frisch's is definitely the exception in the golden corral model being publicly listed and having another primary concept (big boy). Their overwhelming concern from the gc side is how to operate them profitably. Clearly, big boy is the cash cow and will be for the foreseeable future. Look for margin declines this qtr.-bad weather was later this yr w/ big snows. Last yr. They pounded everyday favorites-this yr. Repeat of same program-laws of diminishing returns. Usually spike in sales in 1st 2 weeks february due to tax refunds-this yr. Light b/c snow effects.
