The brokerage firm Alfa was declared bankrupt on April 23rd and 18,259,627 shares (on the Santiago stock exchange) were auctioned off. LarrainVial, another brokerage firm, bought 13,259,627 shares. A few rival brokerages bought the remaining. Provida was little changed for all that volume.
Revenue for the first quarter 2008 was up 11.6%, and Assets Under Management were up 7.9%, although net earnings were only $2 million euros.
