    • Anybody care to venture a guess as to why THRX has been in a decline while it's earnings have been more than positive? What's going on here?
      Thanks,

      • Theragenics is grossly undervalued at 6 3/4. With
the new Theraseed specialist and the marketing force
of J&J Indigo Division, seed sales are rapidly
rising ! Presently, seed sales are 22000 per week up
from 15000 per week last quarter.
        Expect this
quarter to bring in suprisingly good results.

        Good
        luck !

      • any real info on why this stock is so beat up with flat earnings and 2 cents below gru estimates? is it marketing?, product exposure? The mgt.?, the lady in charge? can anyone enlighten me?

      • This stock has always had inexplicable price moves. I have owned shares in this company since 1990. During that time, the price of the stock has fallen and risen seemingly without reason. Had I held on through all those years, I would be in taller cotton now. That which I have held have done remarkably well.

Here's a company with skyrocketing earnings (always has since I've owned it), and a dropping price. My guess? Hang on. Institutional investors are now involved. They are a silly and illogical group, but they really slosh prices around. Ignore them and buy more.

      • Looks like the price decline is purely technical. Loss of
momentum in a high P/E stock catches the attention of
short sellers. Specifically the chart was/is showing a
combination of declining price and volume. Hope for a robust
bounce from 35. If it breaks below 35, the next stop may
        be near 28.
If you're long term, this is just noise.
        Good luck.

      • Basically the answer is "no publicity" by the corporation. I have even asked my internist about the company and he said "who?" And this is in Atlanta. When asked about the product he could comment. The company is doing a low profile for an unknown
reason, probably the agenda of the officers (CEO). Recently she got some award for an "leading female CEO" or something, but I wonder if she can be trusted to look after the rank and file stockholders over the long haul. She probably is more interested in bigger career fish for herself, and that is kinda the reputation she has in small cap circles in the Atl area.

        Interested in what others think.

    • I've been a stockholder for about 3 years and have experienced a 900% return on my investment. Typically, I am quite disciplined about selling after a nice gain, especially with high P/E stocks. Granted, the P/E is high, granted they have all their "eggs"
in one product line, granted that management has not been as promotional as it should be BUT in the last year three big events have occurred which make me optimistic about the future of this stock: 1)New Research Coverage (from Smith Barney & Dain Bosworth, in particular). Very respected analysts who have "buy" and "strong buy" ratings on the stock; 2)Johnson & Johnson taking a big equity share and accepting to pay virtually all the Company's marketing expenses. This can only help; and 3) doctors
can no longer resist transitioning towards using the TheraSeed treatment. They have been trying to resist the treatment, because it much cheaper than conventional prostate treatment, hence less $$ in the doctor's pocket. But the efficacy of the TheraSeed is far superior to any other treatments, and once the word spreads to the insurance companies, patients and other doctors; this could really start taking off.......BUY BUY BUY!!

    • For better or worse THRX does keep a low profile and that tends to not support higher stock prices unless someone other than THRX is releasing PR on the company. They are basically sold out, Christine doesn't have IR send out alot or much PR and probably
is happy to avoid to much hype and the problems that might bring. As they add additional CYCLOS in 1998- 4 are to be added during the year- by yearend company should double capacity...and head into 99 with the ability to double earnings from 98 levels of .75??=x pe__?=?$.and 99 earnings of $1.75++??=??$$

    • Anyone knows if Thrx is doing any R&D on new drug/treatment
that would succeed Theraseed? I'm wondering what's next
after Theraseed (i.e. their growth prospect as a company)?

    • what has happened to thrx

    • Wonder why THRX's price is on the decline? Straight from their 10Q report:

A capacity constraint on a competing I-125 product was also believed to have contributed to the increase in Theraseed(R) usage compared to the same periods in 1996.

Partially offsetting the increase in unit sales was a decrease in the average per unit price received by Theragenics. This per unit decrease was the result of the July 22, 1997 transition of sales and marketing responsibilities from Theragenics to Indigo Medical, a Johnson and Johnson subsidiary.

Management believes strong demand for TheraSeed(R) will continue through the fourth quarter. "However, repeating these exceptional results in upcoming quarters may be difficult."

Cost of sales for the third quarter of 1997 increased $622,000 or 65% over the third quarter of 1996. This increase was primarily due to costs associated with the 123% increase in sales partially offset by economies of scale.

My comments: The recent price increase (to the 50's) was purely due to buying from momentum investors. The euphoria surrounding the market has bid certain stocks to highly unrealistic price levels. Granted, long-term this is a good buy, but watch out for dissappointments when PE's get out of line.

    • dec 29th issue pg 100 $65 in year

    • THRX is an excellent buy at the current $36-37/share. This stock will take off shortly after earnings are released in mid-January.
Get in at these prices while you can.

    • Help me out here. This company has a 33% profit margin and
30 million in cash and with 21 million in sales, they couldn't
possibly have any economies of scale. What am I missing here?

    • Looks like THRX has successfully held 35 support but is in
a 'holding pattern'. The short term concern I have is from
a recent earnings report where the CEO states that it is going
to be difficult to add to current qrtrly EPS. This is due to
new cyclotrons not up until sometime around Spring '98. This
may supress earnings til mid/late '98. If this is true, a short
term drop could occur. Any comments?

      • For the first half of the year the year to year comparisons should be great..1st qtr of 97 profits were .09 and revenue
$4.1, 1st qtr 98 should be around .20 profits and rev of $17-18..profits double!!! rev quadruples++!! whats not to like???
Similiar in 2nd qtr but with new capacity coming along too!!... and by year end capacity doubles..and there will probably be some
additional announcements about even more additional capacity along the way...Market penetration around 4-5% and exploding..and no far
east problems etc. etc. etc. Fortune and others think its going alot higher..Bill
