    Trying to stop the bleeding

Msft is trying to stop the bleeding by saying:

Hey OK, we've been ripping you all off with the current Office software, but just wait for Office 11.

Same old shrink-wrapped, over priced, over hyped buggy crap with a new box.

    30% revenues - GONE

$400 for Office - NO WAY
    $60 sounds better

    Staroffice rules :)

Actually OpenOffice rules with 6 to 8 million downloads per year (current rate of downloads). And, of course, one can make unlimited copies of downloads. The sourcecode is being downloaded at a raate of 500,000 per year.

MSOffice may be 30% of revenue but it is 40% of profits.

StarOffice may have sold about 2 million copies by now. But each copy may be installed on 3 computers.

Licensing of StarOffice to Academic institutions may be 5 to 15 million copies a year.
