WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Senate Banking Committee chairman says the government's financial rescue plan will be costly, and is demanding more details about the program to confront the worst financial crisis in decades.
Sen. Chris Dodd told reporters, "We're anxious to hear the specifics. None of us have any idea what the details are. We understand the gravity of the moment."
Republicans and Democrats on Dodd's panel met at the Capitol and emerged vowing to put politics aside and develop a solution to the financial crisis. Dodd is a Democrat from Connecticut.
Lack of oversight by SEC got us into this mess. Eliminating the uptick rule and naked short selling and lack of oversight have brought our country to its knees, add that and deficit financing and unpaid for war in Iraq, plus tax cuts have brought us to this sad state, and you blame DEMOCRATS!!! But what will you know, you are more interested in GOD,GAYS and GUNS!!! Look in the mirror to see the reasons for this catastrophe, yes Hank Paulson is a credible man, and I wish there were more people of his ability in the present administration.
