I enjoy reading the message boards of the companies that I own or have an interest in buying, just to find out what other investors opinions are. But on the MSFT board, there is more politics than investment opinions! Why is that????
There have always been a lot of politics on these message boards, and I think MSFT gets hit more because of its rather dull trading patterns but venerable position. Currently politics IS really important as it relates to equities, especially if you are a shorter term trader. Right now "why politics" is because MSFT and most other equities could get a horrific shock if the country starts not paying its bills.
"I didn't mean to start another political squabble! You guys should just get a life!"
You didn't start another one. You merely asked a question, an (oustanding) answer was provided, and the PALS jumped in with their graffiti, (as expected).
And that's part of the problem: the PALS are trying to get our lives, instead of making a decent one for themselves. Their misery is ALWAYS someone else's fault. And whatever they propose to solve other peoples problems never seems to solve those problems, because the problems just keep on requiring more and more money;
or in hairy_ticks case, more and more ranting.
Hope you find your boards where the politico-psychos don't exist; but it probably won't be on Yahoo.
You are incorrect; it is not just the MSFT board which is more about politics than investment opinions. IT IS YAHOO MESSAGE BOARDS AS A WHOLE.
This situation came about because proglessives*/anarchists/leftists/socialists (PALS for short), have NO respect for established order, and scribble their cretinous whining wherever they find an opening, much like a vandal spray-painting graffiti everywhere he can. No, I mispoke: EXACTLY like a vandal spray-painting graffiti. The same is true of SPAMMERS.
Because of the above, actual investors started abandoning Yahoo's stock message boards, which means the number of "link clicks" declined. So it seems Yahoo then decided to ignore enforcement of its own anti-spamming policy, reasoning that the spammers add "link clicks" when they reply to their own posts. (As the PALS do as well.) This leads to further deterioration of actual investor numbers. So basically, Yahoo has just about perfected the death spiral.
These "link clicks" are important for Yahoo to get money from advertising, which pays the bills, otherwise it would have shut down this silliness by now.
You may be able to find better message boards on other sites. Or you could get together with a bunch of other people and form a Group here on Yahoo, with a Moderator(s) to kick out those who would join with nefarious motives, i.e., those who don't follow the rules.
You'd start by asking if their was any interest on the current board, seeing if there was one of you you'd trust to set up a (Group) site here on Yahoo, before you'd actually join the Group. And one could always leave the Group later, if not satisfied. Future members could be researched from their other posts on Yahoo's message boards, to see beforehand if they're compatible.
It's always great to find out what other investors opinions are, just don't act on them exclusively. That would be like sending your life savings to a spammer based on one post, or listening to anything that Hairy_Tick poster says.
*Proglessive [pro-gless-ive] -noun - 1) An individual masquerading as a goody-two-shoes, whose agenda for advancement only addresses his/her (usually selfish) personal peeves against established structure (or authority), while restricting or tearing down (NOT advancing) the customs, laws, welfare, or morals of society.
I enjoy reading the message boards with interesting political discussions, just to find out what other peoples' opinions are.
But on the MSFT board, there are more spammers, whiners and crackpots than intelligent opinions!
Why is that????
