Did you read the opt out part of the new health law? Of course not. It has nothing to do with walking instead of driving or personal freedom. You don't get it. Car insurance is required in most places if you drive a car, because it lowers costs for everyone. That's the point, not wheter one can ride the bus instead. People who can afford health insurance don't sign up for it because they can go to an emergency roomm and get it for free.
My health plan used to have it where you could not sign up one year, skip a year, then sign up the next year. In the old days no one would be so self centered to do that, so no problems. Later the self centered cheapskate people of today were scamming this system and they had to stop it. Now you must pay or the health care plan, which is very cheap btw, will be terminated. This is a private company not the govt.
The govt is very fair and actually the "private sector" are the ones who usually take away persona freedoms, even when against the law.
