Simple question for simpletons CFury and predisposable Moe

Since the report says tax revenues as a percent of GDP are lowest for 60 years and since income tax rates were 20% lower in 1988, how do you explain the drop in revenues as a percent of GDP with a 20% higher rate?

There is but one explanation, the margins are smaller so less of GDP is taxed.

    Case closed.

    • Another would be tax loopholes. Nobody believes companies pay the advertised rate.

      Consider the article
"Corporate Profits Just Hit An All-Time High, Wages Just Hit An All-Time Low"

      Business Insider.

Clearly shows that corporate profits over the last decade (except for the 2010 recession ) are above the long term average.

I wasn't aware that this magazine was a socialist rag??

Must be certain we are comparing apples to apples.

I hear large corporate profits are high because they are doing a lot of business overseas in places such as China, India & EU. In many cases those overseas profits are also not subject to US tax. Thus tax collections are down while profits are up.

Wages in US would be for wages in US when economic activity has been suppressed due to a recession. We still have 7.9% unemployment and millions of people have dropped out of the employment market. So wages are down. What a surprise!

I would think even cstupidforyerself can calculate that. I hear he's a big math wizzie!

        Sentiment: Strong Sell

    • And every libdem counts the increased revenue they will get from raising taxes, and everytime the tax revenue shrinks. Do any of them understand why?

    • Clicked on your post and got this:

"Error while retrieving the data (Error Code: MBTo_500500_1MBBa_INVALID_STATUS)"

      INVALID STATUS! No kidding.

Get back in line behind Grover down there and be patient. The Presidents "member" will be available to you shortly.

Brushed your teeth and gargled lately...?

      Sentiment: Strong Sell
