Doesn't matter that road leads to no where. I've been running a media center for years on my TV and the content providers are still in control unless you want to do things that are illegal. Boxee, Roku what ever box all are basically the same. Smart Tv's, IP TV's the same everything is a pay for app so you can't beat your local cable company price wise when you add it all up and you won't be able to get all the channels you watch. Pay for view?? Same price as cable pay for view.
